About My Art
Background
I grew up in the Midwest and have a degree in language from Ball State University. Although I have always been creative, starting with designing and making my own clothes as a teenager, I had no artistic training or experience. That all changed when I found myself sailing in the Bahamas on a 42’ Morgan for three months. I started with watercolor painting. There was no end of subjects and scenery there to begin my artistic journey. I still have some of those early paintings and continue to find inspiration in the many locations that I visited then.
To learn more about art, I read everything I could find and watched copious videos to practice my technique.
Now
For the past several years, I have concentrated on Colored Pencil, which has now become an accepted medium in the field of fine art. Working with Colored Pencil allows me to create detail that would be difficult with most other media. For instance, the intricate detail seen in my motorcycle paintings. I have enjoyed the process of painting portraits of children and animals, getting to know their personalities and distinct features. I would love the opportunity to capture your loved one or prized possession on paper. All I need is a few photographs (or one good one) to create a treasured memory.
